OptimumX opt-20lt-black review

A 20-liter convection mini oven at 1,380 W, with three shelf positions, an adjustable 60-minute timer that switches the oven off at the end, and a high-strength double-glazed door. OptimumX names pizza, cake, chicken wings and roast chicken among its intended uses.

The net of it Twenty liters with a fan and three shelf positions is the sensible middle of this family, and the timer that actually switches the oven off is worth more than the extra liters. The omission is serious for anyone comparing on paper: OptimumX publishes no temperature range whatsoever. Not a ceiling, not a floor. The Cecotec below it publishes 230 °C (446 °F) and the Sommertal above it 100–230 °C (212 to 446 °F).

Twenty liters, with a fan

Double the Cecotec’s cavity, and — the more important difference — with convection. A fan is what makes a mini oven behave like an oven instead of a grill with a door, and it is the single specification that most changes results on anything baked.

1,380 W behind it, and three shelf positions, which is where the browning is actually controlled.

The timer that switches off

OptimumX states the oven turns itself off when the set time runs out, rather than only sounding. On an appliance often used unattended in a second room, that is a genuine difference from an alarm.

The gap

No temperature range at all. Not a maximum, not a minimum. Every other mini oven on this site publishes at least a ceiling, and two publish full ranges. For a buyer choosing between models on paper, this is the one figure whose absence cannot be worked around.

No internal dimensions either, which is the family’s usual omission.

Build

A high-strength double-glazed door, and OptimumX names pizza, cake, chicken wings and roast chicken among the uses. Twenty liters is enough for a modest chicken; forty-five, on the Sommertal here, is enough for a large one.

The plus side, and the minus

Strengths

  • Convection at twice the capacity of the Cecotec, for about twice the price
  • Three shelf positions — a real difference from a single fixed rack
  • The timer switches the oven off rather than only sounding
  • High-strength double-glazed door

Compromises

  • No temperature range published at all — neither floor nor ceiling
  • No internal dimensions published
  • No offer on Amazon UK at the time of writing
  • The brand publishes no part number beyond the listing code

What readers want to know

What temperatures does it reach?

OptimumX publishes no temperature figure for this model — neither a maximum nor a range — and we do not estimate one. The Sommertal and the Rommelsbacher on this site both publish full ranges, which is what to compare against.

Why do three shelf positions matter?

Because distance from the element decides browning. A single fixed rack gives one result; three positions let a pizza sit close to the top element and a cake further away. The Rommelsbacher here publishes four.
