Tristar WF-2195 Double Waffle Maker vs Breville VST072X

Browning control now, or a machine that survives its coating?

Each of these two has exactly one thing the other does not, and they are the two things that matter in this family: a thermostat you can set, and plates you can replace.

A tick marks the better answer on that line only. Counting ticks does not decide the page — the two verdicts below do, because these products answer different questions.

Which of the two belongs in your kitchen

Buy the WF-2195 Double Waffle Maker

Take the Tristar if you want to choose how dark your waffles are. It is the only iron in this family with an adjustable thermostat, it publishes 1,000 W, and it makes two large waffles at a time — which decides whether a family eats together or in shifts.

VST072X

No amazon.com listing was found for this one. We hold references for other markets but none for the United States, so it may not be buyable here — which is the first thing to weigh against anything below.

Take the Breville if you intend to keep it. Its plates come out — for the sink, and for replacement — which is the difference between a worn coating being a part and being a new appliance. Check that a spare plate set is listed in your country before you buy, not after.

What readers want to know

Why does neither publish plate dimensions?

Because almost nobody in this family does. Of the four waffle irons on this site, only Bestron publishes a waffle size — 10 cm (3.9 in) — and that is on a mini model. Depth and diameter decide the waffle style, and the category leaves both out.

Is a ceramic coating worth it?

Breville states DuraCeramic outperforms standard non-stick, and Krups states its ceramic plates are scratch-resistant. Both are manufacturer claims rather than measurements — but they are claims about the exact component that decides how long the machine lasts.

Each one in detail

  • Tristar WF-2195 Double Waffle Maker

    1,000 W · 2 waffles · adjustable thermostat · European 230 V model

Two large waffles at once, 1,000 W, and an adjustable thermostat — the only browning control published in this family. Stainless steel lid, non-stick plates, indicator lights, non-slip feet, and a body Tristar states can be stored upright or flat.

Best for: A household of three or four that wants its waffles paler or darker on purpose.

    7.8/10

  • Breville VST072X

    DuraCeramic · removable deep plates

The only waffle iron of the four with plates that come out. Breville publishes a DuraCeramic coating it describes as outperforming standard non-stick, a fully enclosed plate system to stop overflow, a clip system for the waffle rise, upright storage, a cool-touch handle and integrated cord storage.

Best for: Anyone who has thrown away a waffle iron because the coating went.
