Can I bake with the rotisserie fitted?

Take the spit out first: it fills the middle of the oven, where the baking pan goes. The one toaster oven sold in the United States on this site with a rotisserie — the NutriChef — supplies it as a removable set.

What the oven publishes

NutriChef PKRTO28, $149.99 — a 30-quart countertop oven with seven cooking styles: bake, grill, toast, turbo, rotisserie, broil and roast. The listing title says it “Includes Baking Tray, Skewers & Handles” — the spit is an accessory, not a fixture. It goes to 450 °F, with a 60-minute timer.

No other US toaster oven here turns anything.

Why it comes out for baking

It occupies the middle of the cavity, which is where a pan goes.

It blocks the air path — and the NutriChef sells itself as a convection oven.

Nothing needs it there. It lifts out with the handles it ships with.

What to remove with it

The forks, which slide off the rod.

Nothing else. The motor drive stays in the oven, and is wiped rather than washed.

What the pan needs instead

Air all round — about an inch at the sides and back. The NutriChef does not publish its rack positions or inside dimensions; its exterior is 19.6 × 16 × 13.5 in, so measure the rack before buying a pan for it. See measure before you buy.

The setting to use

Bake, on the supplied baking tray. The page lists a “turbo” style but does not say what it does, so the manual has the final word on whether it is the fan.

And what the spit is genuinely for

Even browning on something round, without opening the door. The fat bastes the meat as it turns, and no side sits in its own juices — which is the one thing this oven does that no air fryer or other toaster oven on this site can. Clean it after every roast: a spit spatters.

What readers want to know

Does leaving the spit in matter?

Yes. The rod and its forks sit across the middle of the cavity, at the height a baking pan wants, and they block the air a convection mode depends on. Lifting them out takes seconds, and the motor drive stays in the oven.

Which toaster ovens on this site have a rotisserie?

One sold in the United States: the NutriChef PKRTO28, at $149.99 — a 30-quart countertop oven whose listing includes skewers and handles. The other US toaster ovens here — Elite Gourmet, Breville, BLACK+DECKER, Hamilton Beach, Dash — have none.

Can I bake with the hot plates on?

Check your circuit first. On the NutriChef, the oven and both hot plates together are stated at 1,400 + 1,000 + 600 W — 3,000 W, about 25 amps at 120 V, more than a standard 15- or 20-amp kitchen outlet supplies. Even the oven and the large plate alone make 2,400 W, 20 amps. Bake with the plates off; the review explains the arithmetic.
