WMF

Materials and measurements, rather than watts

WMF appears in three families here: kitchen scales, stick blenders and replacement blender blades.

What we found writing the reviews

A scale that weighs volume. The WMF kitchen scale reads in four units — milliliters, grams, fluid ounces and pounds-ounces — so a recipe asking for a volume of milk is poured onto the scale rather than measured in a cup. It weighs up to 11 lb in one-gram steps on a 9.1 × 5.9-inch glass top, and it is the WMF product on this site sold in the United States, at about $46. See weighing into the bowl and the kitchen scales page.

Materials over watts. The Kult X stick blender publishes 600 W — modest for its price — and spends the money on Cromargan stainless: a detachable shaft, a removable blade unit, and a five-piece set with a masher.

Dimensions, published. The stick blender states about 15.4 inches tall with a 3-foot cord; the scale states 9.1 × 5.9 × 0.8 inches. Both are figures you can hold against your own drawer.

Blade references, published. The FS-1000050213 replacement blade names the two compatible machines by number — the only line that matters on a part that has to seat and seal.

Buying WMF in the United States

The scale is sold on Amazon.com and runs on a battery, so it works anywhere. The Kult X stick blender is a 220–240 V European appliance, and the replacement blade fits European blenders only; both sit at the end of their shelves. For a US stick blender, see the immersion blenders page and can I blend hot soup with a stick blender; for US makers, the brands page.

  • WMF Kult X Immersion Blender Set

    600 W · Cromargan stainless · 15.4 in long · 220 V European model

    Kult X, a five-piece set built around a 600 W motor and a detachable Cromargan stainless shaft. WMF publishes the dimensions — 3.1 × 2.4 × 15.4 in (8 × 6 × 39 cm) — and a 3 ft (1 m) cable, uses a 2+2 blade design with a removable blade unit, and supplies a whisk, a masher, a chopper and a 24 oz (700 ml) beaker, all dishwasher-safe.

Best for: A set that will still be in the drawer in ten years, in a kitchen that does not need 1,500 W.
